Hip- hops Future- Predictions, Doubts and Forbes List.

Hip- hop; from humble beginnings to being arguably the most popular genre of today, hip- hop has endured and changed throughout time. Different styles, flows, instrumentals, instruments and even the trend of blending genres are a part of the hip- hop we see today. Like many guys in my generation, I grew up on hip- hop so it holds a very close and dear part of my heart. This love I have for hip- hop has brought me to this post, the last post I will be doing on this blog.

In this post I want to discuss and try to come to terms with the hip- hop world I expect to see in the next few years. The main trend in hip- hop today, is just the actual sound of hip- hop/ rap. Before, beats were made using DJ’s who cut samples and created sounds. Today, this still takes place; however, it is much different process with a much different end product. If you haven’t noticed already, hip- hop is starting to merge with electronic/ rave- type sounds with emphasis on bass more than lyrics. I guess my biggest worry is just lyrical content moving forward; the new beats I can live with, but the artistry must remain intact.

Here’s a look at the top 5 richest rappers in the world right now and moving forward.

1.      P- Diddy- ($500 million)
2.      Jay- Z- ($450 million)
3.      Dr. Dre- ($250 million)
4.      Birdman- ($110 million)
5.      50 Cent- ($100 million)

I was pretty surprised to see 50 cents name among the top dogs, but the other guys are seemingly right where they should be. Hip- hops future is very bright and never in doubt; I mean, hip- hop has survived a lot and is capable of over-coming anything really. Thanks for your time and support guys!!

Top 20 Rappers- Dead or Alive.

Hope everyone is doing well this week; for a change, I would like to touch base on the toughest question for any hip-hop fan to answer with 100% certainty- who are the best rappers of all time? The reason why it’s the difficult question it is; is because, there are too many variables to account for to determine who the best really is. For instance, when I compare Tupac to Biggie, I always say Tupac is the better artist because of the type of power he had in culture and his musical content which is more immense than biggies.

Although it is basically impossible to create a top 20 list of the best rappers and not feel like you’ve messed everything up; however if you follow a criteria, the list starts to make a little more sense. The criteria I will use for this particular list will be: Content, Success and Cultural Impact.

This is my list of the Top 20 Rappers, dead or alive.

  1. Tupac
  2.  Nas
  3.  Eminem
  4.    Jay- Z
  5.    Biggie
  6.    Jadakiss
  7.   Guru (Gangstarr)
  8.    AZ
  9.   Big Pun
  10.   Big Daddy Kane
  11.   E-40
  12.   Common
  13.   Cam’ron
  14.   Bun-B
  15.   LL Cool J
  16.  Dr. Dre
  17.  Snoop Dogg
  18.   Lauryn Hill
  19.   Lil Wayne
  20.   Left Eye

As I stated before, this list only represents the top rappers that fit into the qualification criteria. This is by no means the order or selections in which I would pick for the best-ever list. Until next week, keep safe and keep your ears perked for fresh sounds and eyes open for crazy news.

This Month in Hip- Hop…

This month in hip- hop can best be described by the article I attached to this blog post below. Make sure you check it out, and if you’re not following me on Facebook or Twitter, make sure you check that out and give me your input/ comments!
With that being said, I would like to talk about the kind of month February was for hip- hop music and culture. Kanye West drops Yeezy II shoes with nike, Schoolboy Q drops his debut album “Oxymoron” and DMX was set to fight Zimmerman in ‘Celebrity’ boxing match (I would not consider Zimmerman any kind of Celebrity...).

Kanye is still on his godly ego trip and drops the sequel to his Nike kicks ‘Yeezy II’, and they may just be the most quality thing the man has had a hand in creating for quite some time; if you can afford them.  Schoolboy Q drops his debut album and it does very good in its first week! Q is part of TDE, the crew lead by: Kendrick Lamar and the team as a whole is looking to differentiate themselves in the game with an unorthodox flow and a style of beats not really heard before. There are some really good tracks on this cd, so make sure you check it out because the dude got talent! Zimmerman VS DMX was set to be the battle of the century, and it was made quite clear by: DMX that he was holding nothing back; rather, he will do anything to ‘kick the shit out of’ Zimmerman. In the end, the bought was never aloud and we’re force to wonder just how badly Zimmerman would have got stomped (sad face)…

Tracks:
1.      Man of the Year- Schoolboy Q.
2.      Swisha’s and Erb- UGK.
3.      Na Na- Trey Songz.

Leave hip-hop alone.. haha

How’s everyone doing, it’s another week and that means another blog post. This week I decided to try and touch base on some more serious topics that pertain to the music I and you love. This week I want to talk about hip-hop and weather it is the very thing that is ruining the youth of today, and I also wanted to talk about a few songs I will be adding to my blog playlist.

Ever since man-kind has been coming together as a society there has been conflict, and it seems to be one thing that man won’t ever seem to evolve from. The wild thing to me though, is the fact that responsibility is something you don’t have to take when we were raised in societies where the first thing they do is point to something or someone else. To say that hip-hop or rap music, or any music for that matter, is a main factor when some lunatic takes a gun and shoots a mall up or something. It seems to me that instead of looking at things like mental health, family issues, abusive relationships and trying to find out where along the lines this soul got so misguided; it’s easier to say he was listening to Eminem before doing what he did. I am by no means saying that certain music does not make one fantasies about a certain lifestyle, but listening to gangster rap never made me want to cap some fool. This is a complicated topic, so I am now more than ever, looking forward to hearing some feedback from you guys! Here are this week’s songs to be added to the playlist, some music that shows the power this genre truly has.
1.       No more guns allowed- Snoop Lion ft. Drake
2.       Promise land- Damian Marley ft. Nas
3.       That thing- Lauryn Hill

Hip-hop Today

Hello and welcome to hip-hop weekly; this week is a pretty interesting one for me. Not only have I enjoyed and looked forward to a lot of new music that’s coming out, but I also read an article that really pertains to some of my personal views and perception of the “game” and how it is today. It’s a frequently talked about thing, and if you’re a true fan you most likely have an opinion on the matter. I would love to hear those, but first allow me to state mine.

Hip-hop is a genre unlike any other; the genre has roots in so many other genres’, so its sound is virtually infinite with possibilities. However, sometimes music becomes a little to manufactured and mathematical. Much rather; music is an extension of the soul in my humble opinion and I love to hear raw, unique and innovative flows and lyrics. When a song does well, its pretty apparent that artists will try and capture the same kind of sound to produce the same kind of results and a lot of times the songs sound the same. This is completely because music is an industry, they have to work with what does well and ride trends but I think it is important to push the envelope with this genre and support artists that do just that. I don’t think hip-hop is any real trouble, as long as the right artists get the proper support to produce new and more innovative music. Big up’s to trend setters, in that spirit, here are my 3 songs of the week.

1.       The motion- Drake
2.       Nothin’ but a party- Zapp and Roger
3.       Stronger- Kanye West

What’s going on hip-hop fans?! Welcome to hip-hop weekly; you’re now tuned into the era, era groove hour boy! In this blog I’m going to be talking about basically any and everything that there is to talk about in hip-hop, rap and RnB. Each post I put up will have an interesting hip-hop related news story that I will carefully regulate, as to bring loyal hip-hop fans the best stories of the genre(s) you vibe to. Along with fresh, funny and interesting hip-hop news; I will also be listing 3 songs each post that will eventually, if it all goes accordingly, make a pretty tight playlist. The songs will be a mix of old school/ classic/ funk/ new school hip-hop and the latest hip-hop songs released.

Soulja boy accused of hit n run and the police impound his Bentley!? When I saw this story two things came to mind. Where the hell has Soulja Boy been? And I just think it’s hilarious because how the hell can he afford to get it back? I won’t really give this story justice, so check out the full story from the link I provided and get every last detail. Best of luck Soulja Boy, even though I must admit I am pleased I will never hear another song like Marco- polo!
